Gabriel had barely even wanted to go to school. He wanted to stay home and practice his telekinesis more. He hadn't mastered it yet, after all, and that was much more exciting than anything that was bound to happen at school. But he knew he had to go in order to not let his mother know anything was up. The last thing he wanted to do right now was make her suspicious. Not when they were going to be leaving soon anyways.
Which was why he was sitting in chemistry class now, listening to the instructions from his teacher over the experiment they were conducting. It wasn't really enjoyable, working with someone who hated his guts, but he didn't see any reason to go out of his way to switch partners. It would be a hassle. So he dealt with Jane and her death glares and just focused on his work.
But apparently, he was focusing a little too hard at one point, because the glass test tube Jane was holding over the flames shattered from his telekinesis and the liquid inside caused the flames to shoot up, lighting her hair on fire.
"Oh my god, what happened, my hair, my hair, someone get something for my hair," She screeched in a voice that could only be described as shrill. But before anyone could grab anything, the smoke reached the smoke detector, causing the fire alarm and sprinklers to go off, soaking everyone.
Jane wasn't hurt, luckily, but about half of her hair was burnt off now, and she'd probably have to cut the rest off to match. Gabriel was trying his best not to laugh as the teacher ushured them outside for regular fire procedures.

Date: 2009-11-26 07:49 am (UTC)Killing Brian had shook him up enough, but this was even worse. It was his mother, but the idea of being without Elle was much, much worse.

Date: 2009-11-26 05:15 pm (UTC)Everything outside of them felt so surreal--the dead bodies, the school, everything. And strangely enough, even with Virginia dead, she still felt the tingling of electricity on her fingertips. "Why did you say you were leaving me?" she whispered, trying to assess his motives.
He didn't have to leave her--he just didn't, not in Elle's mind. He shouldn't even be able to, and yet he did, for however short a time. She would have rather he tried to kill her then leave her--to just drop her like nothing, like she meant nothing?

Date: 2009-11-26 08:47 pm (UTC)As she spoke he wondered idly if she would kill him anyways. He almost hoped he would, after what he had done.
He sat there silently for a few moments, staring at her, before he finally found the words to speak once more. "I was scared," He whispered back softly, gripping onto her tightly still. He couldn't let go. Not just yet.

Date: 2009-11-26 11:33 pm (UTC)She couldn't stop it--the happiness she felt was tainted, and she couldn't relax until he said something--did something--proved something. She didn't care if it was a lot to ask for, if it was selfish. He'd said those words and he couldn't take them back so easily. What kind of person would it make her if she just let him with open arms?

Date: 2009-11-27 07:51 am (UTC)"You're still you, Gabriel," she whispered, her gaze softening on his. She moved closer to him, into him, relaxing subtly. "You're the person you've always been. And I'll always be here to remind you."

Date: 2009-11-27 08:10 am (UTC)Tears burned her vision, and she held him tighter, blinking quickly, trying to dispel her own Daddy's dead, frozen body from her mind. She wanted to thank him. To say she was sorry, but the words wouldn't come, not yet. Everything was all choked inside.
They needed to leave anyway, soon--now, and for the first time Elle surveyed the quiet room, the locked windows, the shelves of books and rows of file cabinets. She sniffled quietly, suppressed her tears. There was no need for them.
"We have to leave," she said quietly, urgently.

Date: 2009-11-27 08:30 am (UTC)They had to leave now--right away, and not just the school, but the island, the state, the country if they could manage it, and as soon as possible. Brian Davis might be dead and buried (or dumped in a river), but killing the principal (that was a stupid move--so stupid, but she didn't regret it) and Virginia here, at this point, were two undeniable murders linked to them.
There would be no disappearing, like they'd planned. Just running.
Elle took in a deep breath, pushing up on her toes to kiss his lips soundly, once, and then turned the the window, keeping a grip on his arm to take him with her. It was easy enough to unlock it, open it, and she nudged him forward to climb out.

Date: 2009-11-27 08:43 am (UTC)They had to get as far away as possible, at least out of state. They couldn't take his mother's car, it would too easy to trace, to follow. They had to steal a car, or something. Anything. Just get out of state, out of the city at least. If they maybe got into Jersey, that would buy them enough time to figure out what to do next.
And maybe by then, he could collect himself again.

Date: 2009-11-27 08:53 am (UTC)She followed him out, weaving her fingers through his and squeezing, tugging him in a jog across the lawn and to the street. Decidedly, she headed up towards her house at a brisk pace, her heart thudding against her chest, her head spinning.
All she could do was count the seconds.

Date: 2009-11-27 05:22 pm (UTC)She sped up. It seemed to take much too long to get to her house. She imagined the school finding the bodies--when? Right now, as she approached the door? Five minutes ago? In the next moment?
Shaking slightly with her key, Elle unlocked the door and pushed inside, immediately running upstairs. She already had started packing a bag, and Elle had to extract her hand from Gabriel to start raiding her jewelry--all gold and silver and diamonds. Her Daddy would have some, too.
Her eyes rested on the small, ticking box Gabriel had fixed for her on her dresser, and she passed by him to clutch at it desperately and put it in the bag too.
"My dad's room is down the hall," she said in a strained voice. "Take all the gold you see. He has a lot of watches on top of his dresser. Some clothes might fit, too. Hurry."

Date: 2009-11-27 07:45 pm (UTC)He made his way into her father's bedroom, looking around the area curiously. Everything Bob owned seemed to say that he had been an important man, special. The kind of man his mother always wanted him to be. The kind of man he would never be now.
He tried to push away those thoughts as he began to grab as many things as he could, throwing them into a bag. He had never seen so much gold in his life. It almost seemed as if everything Bob had touched had turned into gold. It was weird.

Date: 2009-11-27 07:57 pm (UTC)She sucked in a needy, relieved breath when he saw him--still here, still moving, even though his eyes were scary, open, unlike anything she'd seen before.
She wondered what happened. What she did. Was this because of her, because she cornered him into killing his mother? The worst part was she wasn't even sorry, not really. Just worried, so worried he'd resent her for something that wasn't even wrong. No matter what he said, he seemed to think it was.
Maybe they weren't so similar. So much the same as she'd thought. And the painful part was it just made her want him, love him more. She needed to understand. Needed to know this could be salvaged.
"Are you ready?" she asked breathlessly, her mind reeling, her eyes wide and terrified.

Date: 2009-11-27 08:09 pm (UTC)And he never would have had the opportunity without Elle.
Breathing became easier as he compartmentalized his grief, pushing it away in a tiny cavern where he almost couldn't feel it anymore.
At her words he looked up at her, nodding. His eyes were more steady now, calm and collected. "I'm ready," He murmured softly. He took a step closer to her now, pressing a soft kiss against her lips.
