It was pretty late at night by the time they finally reached the Canadian border. As he drove closer to the border he couldn't help but feel a little nervous. They'd only ask a few questions, right? It wasn't likely that they would have pictures of them or anything, any way of knowing that they were trying to run from the law, right?
Right.
He was worrying over nothing, he was pretty sure of it. So far, everything had been going well. Sure, it had taken them a little longer than expected to get here, mostly because they kept stopping to fool around and the like, but they had managed to get here, new car and all. Once they got through they could find a place to stay for the night and figure out the rest in the morning, right?
Right.
Still, one of his hands left the wheel and searched for her hand, fingers intertwining with one another. Being able to hold her hand was a comfort, at the very least.
Right.

But did she want to risk Noah shooting Gabriel, who was right behind her, in harm's way?
No.

Before he could even get the chance to hesitate he challenged all his rage (his rage at Elle, his rage at this situation, his rage at the men trying to take them away) into a swing towards Noah's head.
However, Noah was much more skilled than Gabriel and shot Gabriel in the arm before he could even finish the swing. Gabriel cried out in pain, dropping the lamp and watching it shatter onto the ground as he covered his wounded arm, hissing in pain.
Okay, so maybe that hadn't been the smartest of ideas.

Elle's eyes snapped to his, her teeth clenched. "I'll kill you with my bare hands," she hissed.

Date: 2009-12-10 07:01 am (UTC)She didn't see Noah signal to the Haitian, and she flinched in surprise when the other man offered her a littered t-shirt, but took it with a glare to tie around Gabriel's arm. Obviously, she realized, the Company wanted them in one piece.
She wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing.

Date: 2009-12-10 05:12 pm (UTC)Unsurprisingly, Noah followed them, too, as the Haitian took the driver's seat. She leaned over as Noah sat, his posture casual and a smug smile on his face as he shut the door and kept his gun on his knee, pointedly. Elle fussed over Gabriel's improvised bandage, rolling his already soaked sleeve up to apply more pressure.
"See, that wasn't so hard," Noah commented. The Haitian started the car up.
"What do you want with us, Noah?" Elle spat.

Date: 2009-12-10 05:20 pm (UTC)Gabriel tried to listen the best he could while Elle fixed his bandage. Just how important had her father been? Even when he had found out the truth about Bob's occupation, Elle hadn't really told him much about the Company.

Date: 2009-12-11 12:16 am (UTC)She wanted to kill Noah, and the Haitian. Both of them. She was going to, she decided, her eyes darkening.
"He won't stop bleeding," she said, and the panic in her voice was real.
"It's a bullet wound," Noah remarked dryly. Her nostrils flared a little.
"You need to help him!" she exclaimed angrily, angry at him, and the situation. Maybe though, just maybe if Noah was distracted enough...
Noah smiled thinly, moved up the glasses on his nose. "Who says we want him alive, Elle?"
